Journal #9 : Stay Korea or Come to U.S.
Last year I got a opportunity to come to U.S. My aunt Anna asked me how about to study in U.S. At that time, I really considered about that seriously. If I staied Korea, then I would just study my major without learning English. On the other hand, if I choosed to learning English and studied in U.S., then I could study English very efficiently even though my graduation would be later. I had to think what I am obtainable and lost.

Journal #8 : Differences in Universities in Korea and America
The purpose of university is education and study. Students prepare to become competent members of society, and they lead people into the right path. Every country has developed universities based on social, economic and traditional needs. Externally, universities in the world would have similar systems. However, a comparison of universities in Korea and the USA show couple of similarities and some differences.
One of the most important things is education and study. Universities always study to make creative and practical things. In America, many companies support financial help to universities, and universities give good ideas to companies. For example, in Silicon Valley, it is possible to prosper. Because Stanford University and companies mutual help. In Korea, many companies assist university's research institute and venture groups.
Men prefer natural science to cultural science, but the case of women is contrary. In Korea, men prefer an institute of technology to the department of education, and women prefer the department of education to an institute of technology. However, last year, in medical college of Seoul national university, 90% of successful candidate is woman. Gradually, women are approaching the fields that were previously thought to be just men's careers. In America, men students also are interested in more science than the humanities, and the case of women is contrary.
It is very difficult to enter university in Korea, so high school students have to study very hard. However, if they pass an entrance exam, it is easy to graduate from a university, so average graduation rate is 96%. However, in America, it is very easy to enter university in general, but it is difficult to graduate from a university, so in comparison with entrance rate, graduation rate is relatively low. Until recently, professor in Korea gave generous grades to students, so people pointed out that these grades were meaningless. As a result lately professors have begun to evaluate student's abilities relatively: such as A 20%, B 30%, C 30%, and D,F 20 %. However, in America, professors evaluate student's abilities absolutely.
In Korea, universities entirely depend on tuition, so they are in financial difficulties. In order to solve financial difficulties, some educational experts insist that we should accept donation entrance into a school, and universities decide tuition freely. In America, universities partly take donation entrance into a school, and they decide to tuition freely, so each university is very different, from 1,500 to 25,000 dollars a semester. but in Korea, universities tuition is decided by government, so all university's tuition is alike.
We have a saying in Korea king, a teacher and a father are same.?A long time ago, we even wouldn't step on a teacher't shadow. We think teacher is different person, so it was hard to talk to teacher directly. In America, the relationship of teacher and student looks like friendship. When I saw American students joke with their teacher by TV program, it was surprised to me. In Korea, we can't imagine it. However, recently, it much softened, but its spirit always remains.
I compared university in Korea and America. I can find a couple of similarities and some differences. Universities in Korea and America have been the driving force in the development of society. Actually, a university is a Mecca for society. In conclusion, in Korea, we should be a little more open-minded to take opening mind, and in America, it's better to think and say freely, but it's necessary to act courteously. We know that we have some problems about education, so we try to keep up with distinguished universities in the world and research good educational system. When we feel we have problems, we deal with them flexibly. That's a strong point

Journal#3 : Friends

What does friends mean to you? Friends are companions as long as my life. Actually I am doudtful person to other people. On the other hand, It makes me that I have to believe my friends much further. They are so important people to me. Even though we cannot meet several years, they always must be delighted to see me and so do I. I have thoutht people and experiences are the biggest properties for my life. Therefore they are one the most important assets. I always trust them and they do so. To be honest, I miss them since I have been U.S. but I don't really worry about them and our relationship. My friends are going to be my friends without seeing even many years. That is why I cannot help loving them.

Journal#2 : Special gift for me in this year
Here is America which is a country of opportunity. The point is I am here. It is the most special gift for me I have ever taken. It is the best and most special gift for me and my dream. Actually I want to be CPA especially AICPA. CPA is abbreviation of "CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT". Therefore AICPA means "AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT". I have studied accounting more than three years. Honestly speaking I want to be an acountant since as begining of my accounting studied.
Hence, thesedays are big chance to accomplish my dream and either big challenge to me. Fortunately despite many people experience cultural shock and problem with food, I don't even have like those. It is good for me to study in US. I really appreciate to my parents why they decided that I came here. I am confidence of which is the most special gift at the same time the biggest chance in my life.
